All Church Potluck!!!
We all love potlucks, right? We all comment on those “Methodist potlucks” where no one goes hungry, and all have a great time, right? So why not make potlucks a regular part of our life together? That is just what we are going to do. Beginning Saturday, October 13th, 5:30 pm.
The vision for this All Church Potluck is to create a space for us to make connections: to develop relationships, make new friends and thereby build the church together. It is also envisioned to be simple, in that there is no programming planned, nor is there a committee that is in charge of administrating it. (So many people said, “I want to come but I don’t want to be on a committee.) That means there may be some things to work out. It is perceived that people are busy, and that if we make it complicated it will be difficult to carry out – that has been the feedback. So, we all bring a dish to share and our own table service. Whoever comes first can do any set up that is needed, and we can rotate who cleans up. Children are welcome to play in the MPR, but since there are people eating there, we will not allow balls to be played with. At first we will allow for people to eat with whom they please, but understand that the purpose is to connect with new people. This is the vision.
So, let’s try it out. Let’s see if we can’t do something important simply. Just come – on October 13th, and we will work it out together. If we need to do some things, we will do them together. Just come.
