Cropwalk Was a Great Success

Church World Service

CROP is an acronym for Community Response to Overcome Poverty. The Renton Faith Community is once again joining together to raise money and awareness of hunger in our community and to support Church World Service’s efforts to eradicate hunger and poverty and promote peace and justice around the world. CWS reaches out to neighbors in need near and far--not with a hand out, but a hand up. Here in Renton the CWS Crop Walk supports the Renton Salvation Army Food Bank, the Friendly Kitchen and ARISE (homeless services). So, if you are looking to help build a better community and a better world then get involved in this year’s Crop Walk!

FCUMC has been a big supporter of Crop Walk for many years, and you are invited to get involved in this year’s funtastic event through participation and/or sponsorship. This year’s Crop Walk will start at Liberty Park at 1:00 on Sunday, May 2. Walkers and runners will follow the scenic Cedar River Trail to Ron Regis Park, and back again. The total course is 6.8K, but those less energetic are encouraged to try the 1.5K route to Riverview Park and back. Snacks and drinks will be provided along the way. Even if you cannot do the walk you can get involved by sponsoring a walker from the FCUMC Team.

25% of money raised in this event will benefit local programs such as the Salvation Army Food Bank, Friendly Kitchen, and ARISE. 75% of the money raised will go to Church World Services for hunger and poverty programs in over 80 countries around the world. You can support CROP Walk by participating in the 6.8 mile walk, the 1.5 mile walk, or simply by making a one-time donation online at www.churchworldservice.org/CROP.

Thank you for supporting this incredible ministry!

So far Church World Service has raised $1,555.00 online.

With your help more is possible! CROP Hunger Walks help children and families worldwide -- and right here in the U.S. -- to have food for today, while building for a better tomorrow. Each year some two million CROP Walkers, volunteers, and sponsors put their hearts and soles in motion, raising over $16 million per year to help end hunger and poverty around the world -- and in their own communities. And you are part of it!.
