Trustees Report, September 2007

Safe Choice Carpet Seal and Lockout

The trustees want to thank all the 25- 30 volunteers who helped with the weed and feed work party on August 19th.  We were able to weed the front planting area, the back parking area, the area between our property and the house to the East. Bill Freitag sawed the dead limbs from the cherry trees between our properties.  One tree had to be removed entirely.  Steve Haag brought his trailer to haul away the weeds, trimmings, and dead branches.  It was completely filled to the top.  Jeff Howard used his chipping machine later to chip up the left over weeds and trimmings.  The hedge was trimmed and the area next to the MPR porch was cleared of a very heavy weed infestation.  Thanks to the women who helped prepare a delicious lunch for the tired and wet crew on the 19th.  The rain made the weeds easier to pull. The last group to thank are those who worked very hard to paint the white parking stripes in the front parking lot.  It is a lot harder than it looks to do this job.

Thanks Donna & Curt Stock and crew for the painting.  During the following weeks Jerry and Kirk Larsen finished painting the back and side parking lot stripes.

The trustees also thank the volunteers who helped replace the vinyl floor in the men’s and women’s restroom in the new building.  Workers included Mas Yamamoto, Neal VanDevender, Jerry Flagel, Charles Bofferding, and Jeff Howard.  Don Andersen cut the vinyl to size and installed it in the rooms. Without Don’s expertise, we could not have done this project. Thanks to Bernie Steinert for the use of his pickup truck to move the vinyl from the warehouse in Kent to the church.  We hope everyone enjoys the new vinyl. It helps brighten up the rooms.  In total we have put in more than 40 hours on this project.

Thanks also, to the 18 volunteers who helped remove the playground equipment from Nativity Lutheran Church on September 16th. The list of volunteers who got all the work done in an hour and half include: Kirk Larsen, who showed up at 8AM, Jerry Flagel, Mike Ewing, Cyndi Ewing, Jeff Howard, Dailee Howard, Jennifer Scribner, Lynn Howard, Jeff Kress, Eric Kress, Tom Foulds, David Foulds, Ted Lambie, George Concepcion, Stan Ferguson, Bernie Steinert, Mike Link, Willa Link, and Rod Haynes.  That was quite a job and we are happy to support our pre-school.  The playground will be installed after the trustees design the play area.  We plan to leave the existing equipment in place and add this equipment to the playground.  With the falls rains coming, we may have to wait until the spring to finish the work.
