About Our Church
Welcome to Fairwood Community United Methodist Church. We are located in the Fairwood area of unincorporated Renton. However, our membership, around 550, comes from around the South King County area, from Maple Valley to the Cascade area and from the Highlands to Kent and Auburn. In the winter, we have two services on Sunday mornings: a Contemporary service at 9:00 a.m. and a Traditional Service at 10:30 p.m. During the summer, these are combined into a single service at 9:30 a.m. We invite you to come and join us.
The easiest way to reach our church is to turn east from 140th Ave SE onto Fairwood Boulevard, we are on the right after about a mile.
As a United Methodist Church we belong to the Wesleyan tradition. Following our founder John Wesley we accentuate the primacy of grace. Wesley believed that God loves us all, all the time. As we respond to God’s grace through Jesus Christ, we are called to grow in grace ourselves, reach out to share God’s inclusive love with others, and become servants of God’s justice and peace in the world. We do this not by ourselves, but in connection with each other, as a community of faith.
The motto for the United Methodist Church is Open Hearts, Open Minds, Open Doors. We at Fairwood Community United Methodist Church strive to live out that motto, and we invite you to come and join us!

Practicing Inclusiveness
As United Methodists, we firmly believe in our motto Open Hearts, Open Minds, Open Doors. Recently the Judicial Council, our denomination's highest judicial authority, issued a decision upholding a pastors refusal of a gay man's request for membership in the church.
In response, the United Methodist Council of Bishops wrote an open Pastoral letter during the their meeting at Lake Junaluska NC. We think you should read it.
